Lucky Tea Weekly Briefing, October 11 to 17: Riyadh Season opens October 21, Luckin adds pearl milk tea
This week's feature answers a common Riyadh search: the FII10 summit that was planned for October 26 to 29 has been postponed to 2027, so there is no summit week to plan around. In the briefs, Riyadh Season's zones are opening in stages, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority issued five tips for cutting sugar when eating out, and Hong Kong-listed ChaPanda was removed from the Hang Seng indexes.

FII10 will not take place on October 26 to 29: the Riyadh summit is postponed to 2027
Anyone searching for the FII 2026 Riyadh dates will find October 26 to 29 on many pages, because that was the schedule the FII Institute had published for its 10th annual conference, themed "The Power of Legacy", in Riyadh. That schedule no longer applies: on Monday, October 19, the Institute announced that FII10 is postponed to 2027.
What is confirmed:
- The conference will now take place in 2027. The Institute said new dates will be announced "soon", and none have been published.
- The official reason is to ensure that this milestone edition "delivers the full scale, quality, and impact expected" by partners and participants.
- Existing registrations and partnerships remain valid, and the Institute's teams will contact participants directly.
What is not yet announced: the new dates for 2027. The reports we reviewed also publish no hotel figures and no traffic measures for the postponed week, so none can be quoted.
Our reading, not an official statement: the postponement comes after a period of heightened regional tension, and some outlets have linked the two, while the Institute's own announcement does not. We treat that link as our inference only, and the reason above remains the only one the Institute has given.
For Riyadh, the traffic and hotel demand that a large summit week brings will not arrive on October 26 to 29, so residents can plan the last week of October as an ordinary week, bearing in mind that Riyadh Season, which opened on October 21, is a separate event that runs for about 10 weeks. Cafes and restaurants that had prepared extra stock or staff for the summit week may want to review those plans rather than assume a surge, and visitors who booked flights or hotels around FII10 should confirm directly with their organiser or booking provider, since the Institute says it will reach registered participants itself.
Practical tips:
- Treat any page that still lists October 26 to 29 as out of date, and check the FII Institute's official channels for the 2027 dates once they appear.
- If you hold a registration, wait for the Institute's direct message before changing travel plans.
- For hotel and transport questions, rely on your provider's confirmation, since no official figures have been published.

Riyadh Season's zones are opening in stages, and the Boulevard World date is not yet confirmed
What's On Saudi Arabia published a zone-by-zone list on October 20 showing that Riyadh Season 2026's 12 zones open on different dates rather than all at once. It lists Boulevard City's stage opening on October 22 and its attractions on October 24, Al Dirah Winter on November 1, Wonder Garden and Suwaidi Park on November 18, Al Hisn Maze from November 19 to 28, and Farmer's Market on December 18, while The Groves (November), Riyadh Zoo and SEVEN Al Hamra are still marked "to be confirmed". The same list gives Boulevard World as October 25, but we have seen conflicting dates for it, so treat its opening date as unconfirmed and check the official Riyadh Season channels (riyadhseason.com) before planning a visit. Because the season rolls out over weeks, busy evenings are likely to shift from one zone to another, and for a Riyadh tea shop that means footfall around the season is worth watching week by week instead of expecting one peak.

SFDA issues five tips for cutting sugar when eating out
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority published five tips for reducing sugar when dining outside the home: ask for the nutritional information and pick the lower-sugar option; choose unsweetened drinks such as water, plain tea or unsweetened coffee and avoid soft drinks and energy drinks; ask for fresh juice without added sugar and skip nectars and fruit syrups; ask for sauces and dressings on the side; and share a dessert or swap it for fresh fruit. It is public guidance rather than a new rule, but because it names unsweetened tea and "no added sugar" requests as the preferred choices, it is a good reason to keep sweetness options easy to find and easy to explain at the counter.

China's ChaPanda leaves the Hang Seng indexes from October 23 after a trading suspension
Trading in ChaPanda (Chabaidao, 02555.HK) has been suspended since October 13 at the direction of Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission, which said the company's IPO may have been manipulated. Hang Seng Indexes Company announced on October 14 that the stock would be removed from the relevant indexes after the close on October 22, effective October 23. The company's board said on October 14 that it is seeking urgent legal advice and will cooperate with the regulator, and a spokesperson said operations are running normally. The SFC's concern is about the IPO, and no findings have been published in the sources we reviewed.
